Half Saree

The half saree, also known as Paavadai Davani in Tamil Nadu and Langa Voni in Andhra Pradesh is worn by young girls. They start wearing the half saree as teenagers and continue to wear till they get married. This makes it easier for them to handle the saree. However, the tradition of wearing a half saree at a young age is vanishing, and girls have moved on to wearing salwar kameez and western wear as they find it easier to maneuver in it. It is interesting to note that a few schools and colleges in Chennai have made the Half Saree as their uniform.
